New Traditions

The smell of Easter Ham fills our house... Novali is still sleeping, Cruz is eating like always and Heather and I are enjoying our morning coffee. In a few minutes cinnamon rolls will be done and I am sure the smell will lure Novali down for her breakfast and to search for her Easter basket. Of course as a good big sister she wil help Cruz hunt for his basket.

Last night Novali mentioned this is her first time in years not being in a hotel for Easter. It was a tradition for us for years that we went to downtown Chicago, stayed in a hotel right downtown, went swimming, shopping, and visited the famous churches of Chicago. It was a tradition started because her birthday is near Easter so we did Easter/Birthday outings and sometimes family would visit.

Over the years she has stayed in the Allerton, Drake, Palmer House, Embassy Suites and Double Tree downtown... we visited the chapel in the sky (church on top of a skyscraper) and many other cool Chicago landmark churches.

Well this year we broke that tradition, as our family grows things change. Maybe in a few years we can start the Chicago hotel tradition again and Novali can be our Chicago tour guide. Or maybe we start a completely new tradition? Who knows... but we are together this morning, she has new tights for church and will be down in a second all excited to look for her basket... speaking of, I better run...

Happy Easter Everyone.
